Lynx End 2010 Season in Dramatic Fashion

The Rhodes Women's Soccer team ended the 2010 season with bang.  A come from behind victory against the University of Dallas was a fitting final game for the seniors.  The Lynx traveled to future SCAC conference member University of Dallas in Irving, TX on Sunday to wrap up the 2010 season.
The Lynx and the Crusaders would battle to halftime tied at zero.  Rhodes was able to create several quality chances but were unable to convert.  In the 53rd minute Claire Sexton would strike first, giving UD the 1-0 advantage.  Emily Rogers was credited with the assist.  The Lynx thought it would be a short lived advantage when they were awarded a penalty kick 2 minutes later.  UD goalkeeper Brigid Hasson would guess correctly and saved senior Alice Hilgart's attempt at goal.  However, Hilgart would find the back of the net 1 minute later.  Freshman Sarah DiLella got around her defender and drove down the end line sliding a pass to Hilgart in front of the Crusader goal.
The game seemed bound for overtime, but junior Caroline Colpoys changed that with 3 minutes left on the clock.  Colpoys collected a clearance from the defense and sent in a high looping shot that would find the near corner of the goal giving the Lynx the 2-1 advantage.  The Rhodes defense would hold on to preserve the late come from behind win.
Hasson made 7 saves for the Crusaders while junior Stephanie Sermonet and freshman Allison Cowling split halves for the Lynx recording 1 save.  Rhodes led UD 22-4 in shots and 8-0 in corners.
The Lynx finished the 2010 season with an over all record of 8-9-1 and 5-4-1 in the SCAC.
