The Lynx opened their 2009 season in a battle against an agile and persistent Wooster squad on Transylvania University's field in Lexington, Kentucky. Rhodes dominated the first half of the game, even after Wooster scored just a few minutes into the first half. Defender

Lindsey Gurkovich responded with back to back first half goals to put the Lynx up 3-1 at the break.
Both goals were assisted by sophomore Libby Jones. The Lynx attack was supported by a stellar performance in the midfield by sophomore Sarah Kennedy and junior Charlie Wagner, who paced play for Rhodes all game long.
Wooster, however, came out strong and speedy in the second period, capitalizing during some defensive breakdowns and, consequently, putting two points on the board within ten minutes shortly after the opening of the half. Despite these goals, Lynx goalkeeper Megan Cullen '10 totaled nineteen saves throughout the game which was matched by Wooster keeper Madeline Myers. Rhodes also benefitted from outstanding defensive efforts by seniors
Kristen Lee and Laura Deines. After Wooster evened the score the Lynx made several strong pushes late in the second half but were unable to find the back of the cage on 8 second half shots.
The teams then battled in seven-on-seven overtime until All American Wooster forward Amanda Artman tipped a wide shot into the cage just five minutes into play, ending the sudden death match. Rhodes ended the game with 30 shots to Wooster's 25, while the Lynx also held a 12-7 advantage in penalty corners.
