Shay Womack shot a one under 71 in the afternoon 18 to go with his opening round 74 to lead the Birmingham Southern Shootout

#1 Huntingdon and #2 Rhodes tied after 36 holes of the Birmingham Southern Shootout

The Rhodes Lynx Men's Golf Team, ranked #2 in the country in the Division III Golfstat rankings, are tied with the #1 ranked team, Huntingdon (AL), after 36 holes of the Birmingham Southern Shootout being contested at the Oxmoor Valley Golf Club.   The Lynx Shay Womack, a sophomore from the Lovett School in Atlanta, is leading the tournament after posting rounds of 74-71 (145).  

The Lynx led after the morning 18 holes when sophomore Farrell Diliberto fired an even par 72 to lead the team to a score of 296.  Other Rhodes scores were:  Shay Womack - 74, Doug Gordon - 75, Bill Bazzel - 75, Scott Wallace - 79.  Birmingham Southern shot 297 and Huntingdon 299 in the first 18 hole round.

"Farrell played a great opening 18 to shoot even par, but struggled in the afternoon 18," said Coach Cochran.  "Shay Womack's one under 71 and Doug Gordon's even par 72 really picked up the team in the afternoon round."  Other scores for the Lynx in the afternoon round:  Scott Wallace - 76, Bill Bazzel - 78, Farrell Diliberto - 80.

"It's really exciting having the #1 and #2 teams in the country going head to head," said Coach Cochran.  "  The Lynx will tee off at 8:00 am CT in the final 18 at Oxmoor Valley Golf Club.
