Memphis, Tennessee ~ Rhodes College Men's Basketball will tipoff their home season tomorrow night against Greenville College in the night's final game of the Rhodes College Tipoff Tournament hosted by Hampton Inn-Poplar. Tipoff for the game is approximately 7pm.
Rhodes enters the matchup 1-0 on the young season. The Lynx opened their season with an 89-51 road victory against Principia College. Rhodes placed 4 players in double digits on the night, led by senior
Reid Hamilton's 22 points and 10 rebounds. The Lynx used their size to their advantage and outebounded Principia 58-31 on the night including 25 offensive rebounds.
Greenville College enters the night's game with a season record of 0-1, losing its opening game to Rockford College by 23 points. Obinna Agomo and LaPhonso Ellis led the Panthers with 16 and 12 points, respectively. The Panthers shot 26 three pointers in the game and connected on just under 50% of those shots, but were outrebounded by a 44-33 including giving up 14 offensive rebounds.
This will be the first matchup between Rhodes and Greenville since 1991-1992, when Rhodes joined the SCAC. The weekend's classic is a traveling tournament that features Rhodes College, Hendrix College, Westminster College and Greenville College. Each college has both their men and women's teams here on campus this weekend. The schedule for the tournament is below.
