The Rhodes women's soccer team completed a weekend sweep of American Southwest Teams by beating the Tigers of East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, TX by a score of 8-0. The Lynx upset the #4 ranked Cowgirls of Hardin-Simmons on Friday, September 7th.
The Lynx got on the board just 7 minutes into the game when junior forward
Melanie Sharry scored from a corner kick play assisted by sophomore defender
Colleen Callaghan. Just 17 seconds later Sharry assisted senior midfielder
Caroline Voelkel for her first of four goals on the night. Sharry and Voelkel connected again for the Lynx' 3rd goal of the game and then Voelkel completed her first half hat-trick assisted by junior defender
Katy Joyner. Junior defender
Lizzie Wright scored the final goal of the half, assisted by freshman midfielder
Alice Hilgart to give Rhodes a 5-0 halftime lead.

Jessie Cassidy scored the Lynx' first goal of the 2nd half. Voelkel headed in her 4th goal of the night assisted by Callaghan and junior midfielder
Kara Purdy rounded out the scoring for the Lynx in the final minutes of the game as Hilgart assisted for the 2nd time.
Despite a being a down a player due to a 1st half red card, the Lynx defense allowed only 3 shots on the night and earned their 3rd shut out of the season. Sophomore goalkeepers

The Lynx improve to 3-1 in 2007 and will travel to Atlanta, GA to take on the Emory University Eagles on Saturday, September 15th at 1:00pm EST.
