The Rhodes women's soccer team defeated the University of Texas at Dallas Comets in Memphis by a score of 3-0. Caroline Voelkel and Melanie Sharry both scored goals assisted by the other and Alice Hilgart completed the scoring to help the Lynx win in their 1st game of 2007.

Senior midfielder Caroline Voelkel scored the Lynx' first goal of the 2007 campaign in the 16th minute of play when she headed in a well placed corner kick from the foot of junior forward Melanie Sharry. Voelkel returned the favor crossing a ball to Sharry who beat the Comet's keeper to the near post to flick the ball into the goal. Freshman midfielder Alice Hilgart took a pass from fellow midfielder Kara Purdy near the top of the box and sent a ball toward the UTD goal that bounced awkwardly past the outstretched UTD goalkeeper.

Rhodes' goalkeeper Becca Clarin earned her first shutout of the year along with the Lynx defense led by junior captain Katy Joyner.

The Lynx improve to 1-0-0 in 2007 and will kick off against #11 Washington University at 12:00 noon on Sunday, September 2, 2007.
