Atlanta, Georgia ~ Rhodes dropped a SCAC road game to Oglethorpe University on Sunday afternoon. The loss gave the Lynx a split on the first weekend of the conference season.
The Lynx got off to a hot start, opening a 12-5 lead with just 5 minutes gone by. A dunk by Cory Smith (Bartlett, TN) and two three pointers by Jared Hoskins (Rossville, GA) started out the day for the Lynx but the Stormy Petrels battled back and took the lead for good, outscoring the Lynx 43-19 the rest of the half. Rhodes struggled from the field shooting 37% and committing 14 turnovers. In the second half, the Lynx battled hard but could never close the gap as the Stormy Petrels kept up the hot shooting in making 50% of their 3pt. attempts.
For the game the Lynx were led by Hoskins 20 points and got another 17 points from Smith. Justin Long (Little Rock, AR) led the Lynx with 9 rebounds. Rob Bledsoe (Athens, TN) came off the bench and grabbed 4 rebounds and blocked 3 shots. Andrew Sillyman (Cordova, TN) netted 7 points for the Lynx off the bench.
