Stacie Owers, a former UMass Amherst standout and a tenacious midfielder with professional experience, is entering her second season as the head coach for the Rhodes women's soccer team. In her first year at the helm, she achieved a remarkable record of 10-4-1, setting the stage for an exciting future for the team.
Owers is a representative for the Rhodes College Staff Advisory Council that advocates on behalf of all non-faculty employee interests and concerns. The Council seeks to enhance the college’s workplace environment as the most desirable among peer liberal arts institutions. Guided by the Rhodes Vision statement, the Staff Council works to build a collaborative campus environment, champion staff professional development, and advise college leadership on matters relating to and affecting the staff of Rhodes.
Coaching Journey:
Stacie earned her first collegiate head coaching position after two successful seasons as the head coach for Arlington High School and four seasons as the assistant coach for Christian Brothers University (CBU). Her coaching career also includes five years of dedication to the local Memphis community with the Collierville Lobos Rush.
At Arlington High School from 2020 to 2022, Stacie led the women's soccer team to a district championship and a historic regional victory in 2020, marking a significant milestone in the program's history. Additionally, she served as the assistant coach for the men's soccer team, contributing to their district victory and regional runner-up achievement in the same year.
During her tenure at CBU from 2016 to 2020, Stacie's coaching expertise helped guide the team to the Gulf South Conference Quarterfinals three out of the four years she served as an assistant coach.
Playing Career:
Originally from Southampton, England, Stacie began her collegiate playing career at Tyler (Texas) Junior College. As a freshman, she played a pivotal role in helping her team secure the NJCAA National Championship and earned recognition as an All-District and All-Region player. During her sophomore year, she received First Team All-American honors, leading Tyler Junior College to the national semifinals.
After her time at Tyler Junior College, Stacie transferred to UMass, where she continued to shine. Her leadership on the field was instrumental in guiding her team to the Atlantic 10 semifinals during her senior year.
Professional Experience:
In 2021, Stacie took her talents to the professional indoor soccer scene, signing with the Memphis Americans, a franchise competing in the National Indoor Soccer League. Before her move to the United States in 2011, she gained valuable experience by playing for three clubs in England: Southampton FC, Havant & Waterlooville FC, and Portsmouth Football Club.
Education:
Stacie is not only a force on the field and the sidelines but also in the classroom. She earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2019 from CBU, showcasing her commitment to continuous growth. In 2020, she added to her academic achievements by obtaining a Master of Education from CBU.
