Shayni Paul enters the 2017 season as her first season as the assistant coach for the Rhodes College Women’s Soccer Program.

Paul joins the Lynx after serving one year as the assistant women’s soccer coach and two years as the graduate assistant coach at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. The team recently went 9-8-1 overall, and according to the NSCAA, had the 33rd hardest non-conference schedule in the nation playing top ranked teams in their region. Paul developed training sessions and coached functional groups for the team as well as had a major role in the recruitment of potential student athletes. On the season, Capital was second in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Paul graduated with her Master’s in Business Administration from Capital University in June of 2016.

In her first season at Capital, Paul helped lead the team to a 16-6-2 overall record, which lead to an OAC Tournament Championship and a bid to the NCAA National Tournament. The team won their first round game against Gettysburg College but fell to Messiah College in the second round.

In her second season, Paul assisted in leading the Capital team to the first ever undefeated OAC record in Capital women’s soccer history. Going 9-0 in conference as well as a 15-5-1 overall record, the team won the OAC Tournament and received another bid to the NCAA National Tournament. They once again won their first round against Hanover College but fell to Centre College in the second round.

While coaching at Capital University, Paul was also a head coach to a number of Columbus Crew Juniors SC club teams. She spent most of her Crew coaching career on the Elite Girls side and worked with girls’ team ages 13-17 years old.

A native of Menasha, Wis., Paul attended undergrad at Marian University of Wisconsin and was a 4 year member of the women’s soccer program from 2010-2013. Competing at the division III level in the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference, Paul appeared in 52 games and accumulated 6 goals and 7 assists throughout her career as a midfielder. She became team captain in 2012 and also received the Sabre award in 2013. Paul was also a NACC Scholar-Athlete her freshmen, junior, and senior year.

Paul graduated from Marian University in May of 2014 with a bachelors in sport and recreation management with a minor in athletic coaching.
