Alex Lane enters his third season as head coach of the Rhodes College tennis program.

Lane is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College, with a major in Government. Prior to Claremont McKenna, Lane played professional tennis competing on the ITF circuit. His professional career was highlighted by qualifying for the main draw events in singles and doubles and playing players in the top 200.

Lane goes into his second season as head men's and women's tennis coach at Rhodes. In his first season the men finished 8-8-1 while the women finished 9-9. During this season Lane led three players to SAA All-Conference Second Team honors, and 15 players to Academic Honor Roll. 
 
After playing professionally Alex enrolled and played tennis at Azuza Pacific University. There he played No. 3 singles and No. 3 doubles and his team finished the year ranked No. 3 nationally in NAIA.
 
After a year at APU Alex transferred to Claremont McKenna and played three years of tennis with great success. In 2011 Alex won the Ojai Valley singles title, made the quarters of the NCAA Championship Singles Tournament and finished the year ranked No. 5 nationally in singles, and was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Year. In 2012 Alex won the west regional Intercollegiate Tennis Association as the No. 1 seed and advanced to the Small College Nationals in Mobile, Ala. finishing third in Division III, then won the Ojai Valley doubles title as an unseeded team beating five No. 1 teams in route to the final.

In 2013 Lane spent his fall semester studying abroad in Paris, France. He came back in the Spring and was the captain for his team that made it to the finals of the NCAA Team Tournament before losing to Williams. Lane finished his career with a 73-22 record in singles and 70-19 record in doubles, in addition to graduating as an ITA Scholar-Athlete.

Lane has also served as the Assistant Director of Tennis at the Acadamia Fabiana in Dallas, Texas for two years and also served as the Assistant Professional Tennis Coach at the Pacific Palisades Tennis Center, where he coached girls and boys national champions across all age divisions.
