Jackson Mumford

Jackson Mumford comes to Rhodes in Summer 2022 after a very successful stint as the assistant coach, defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Oberlin College. With Mumford's guidance, Oberlin set a new record for program wins (12), made their first NCAC playoff appearance in school history, and set a new program best with 5 NCAC All-Conference honorees in route to their longest winning streak since 1960 with 8 games. Under his tutelage, the defensive unit saw groundbreaking success, with records for caused turnovers in a single game, caused turnovers in a single season, and a conference-leading caused turnovers per game. In total 5 players were added to the program's all-time lists for caused turnovers, ground balls, and saves for a single season.

Mumford started his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach at McDaniel College before serving as the interim head coach where he helped manage a roster of over 50 players and support staff. He played a vital role in the recruiting process in addition to film analysis and practice plan development and execution. While at McDaniel College he mentored Jackson Reilly who was named Honorable Mention All-American.

Mumford started his collegiate playing career at Division I Towson University (MD), where he was part of a CAA Conference Championship team and appeared in the NCAA Quarter-Finals vs. Loyola University (MD). Mumford played his final three seasons as a defensive midfielder at Gettysburg College. While at Gettysburg College, the Bullets reached the Centennial Conference Championship 3 times and NCAA Final Four in 2018. A 2019 Team Captain, Mumford was named an All-Centennial Conference Defensive Midfielder, leading his team to a Centennial Conference Championship appearance and NCAA tournament appearance. At the culmination of his playing career, Mumford was honored to play in the prestigious North/South Senior All-Star Game for Team South. Mumford graduated from Gettysburg in 2019 with a degree in English Literature with a minor in Education. He then graduated from McDaniel with a Master of Science in Teaching in 2021.
