Rhodes College Athletics

2012-2013: Johnny played in only 15 of the team’s 26 games due to a torn ACL…..averaged a career high 30.3 minutes per game to go along with 10.3 points per game and 2.6 rebounds…..helped Rhodes to a share of the first ever SAA regular season conference championship and a record of 16-10…..tied career high in scoring (23) on 12/29/12 against UT-Tyler…..set highs in assists (4) on 12/22/12 against Kalamazoo College. 

2011-2012: Johnny played in 23 of the team’s 27 games, starting all 23 while averaging 29.1 minutes per game.....averaged 11.3 points per game along with 2.1 rebounds.....helped Rhodes to the SCAC Conference Semifinals and a record of 18-9.....shot a career high 44.3% from the three-point line…..tied career high in scoring (23) on 2/19/12 against Centre College….. SCAC coaches honored Johnny with Third Team All-Conference honors.

2010-2011: Johnny played in 24 of the team's 25 games, starting all 21 while averaging 28.0 minutes per game.....averaged 9.2 points per game along with 2.4 rebounds per game and only 16 total turnovers.....helped Rhodes to the SCAC Conference Tournament and a record of 7-18.....set a career high in scoring (23) on 2/4/11 against Oglethorpe University…..the team honored Johnny with both the Newcomer of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year awards.

Prior to Rhodes:   Johnny Dunavant, a Lakeland, Tennessee native, comes to Rhodes after an exceptional career at Bolton High School.  A 4-year letter winner and 2-year varsity captain at Bolton, a Tennessee District 14AAA team under Head Coach Shannon Abraham.  As a junior, Johnny was named to the All-District team, and as a senior, he was named to the All-Region team after averaging 21 points and 7 rebounds per game. Johnny was honored with Commercial Appeal’s Best of the Preps award, and was a finalist for Male Student-Athlete of the Year in Suburban Shelby County. Johnny played for the AAU Memphis Select Program under Head Coach William Rhodes, and the M33M Program under Head Coach Mike Miller.
