Luce officially began his time on the Rhodes staff in May of 2018, making 2019 his second season on staff with the Lynx.
“Nathan will be a great addition to our staff," said Ryan. "His past experience as an offensive coordinator will be invaluable, more importantly, his experience in recruiting will be a great asset for us.”
Luce come to Rhodes after recently serving a total of six years at Cumberland University as the wide receivers and special teams coach for Cumberland University. For the 2017 season, Luce coached the quarterbacks and was the Co-Offensive Coordinator where the Phoenix ranked 13th in scoring offense in the NAIA and were sixth in total rushing offense. Prior to that he spent four years coaching wide receivers and special teams and worked with special teams and running backs in 2012.
Luce was also a graduate assistant at Cumberland for the 2004 and 2005 seasons, working with the defense, special teams and running backs as well as scouting on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
Before his recent six-year stint with the Phoenix, Luce spent five seasons at two different NCAA Division III institutions. He spent three seasons at fellow NCAA Division III Kenyon College and two seasons at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he coached running backs and signaled plays in no-huddle offenses for both institutions. Luce also handled video editing for the Kenyon offense and also served as the team's equipment manager during one season.
Luce received his bachelor's in Health and Physical Recreation from Heidelberg College in 2004 and earned his master's in Organizational Leadership and Human Relations from Cumberland in 2006. Luce has earned a second master's degree in Teaching from Cumberland in the spring of 2018. He married the former Jennifer Seward from Newberg, Ore., in June 2016.
