Head football coach
Jim Ryan announced on Monday, that Brian Vaughn has been hired as the new Rhodes College football Defensive Coordinator. Vaughn will take over the defensive play-calling duties held by Ryan who intends to remain as a position coach on the defensive side of the ball.
"Brian brings a tremendous wealth of knowledge and expertise to our defense," said Ryan. "He has distinguished himself as one of the brightest defensive minds in college football. Beyond his on-field abilities, he has shown himself to be a tremendous mentor to his players, as well as a tireless recruiter."
Vaughn comes to Memphis after serving for two seasons at New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell. The Broncos were ranked as high as 6
th nationally this season with Vaughn assuming the defensive play-calling duties last spring.
Prior to 2015, Vaughn served as the defensive coordinator at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, a post he held for six years. During Vaughn's time at Rose Hulman he developed 22 All-Conference defenders and helped the Fightin' Engineers to their first conference title in 25 years.
Vaughn began his coaching career in 2005 at Western New England University with head coach Keith Emery. He was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2006, a post he held for four years.
