Lindsay Kasten

On March 24, 2017, Athletic Director Jeff Cleanthes named Lindsay Kasten as the new head coach of the Rhodes College Field Hockey program. The 2018 season will be her second at the helm.

In her first season, Kasten led the Lynx to a Southern Athletic Association Championship as the Lynx went 12-5 on the year and held an eight-game win streak during the season. Rhodes went 6-0 in conference competition, winning the regular season championship for the fourth year in a row. 

During the 2017 campaign, three Lynx garnered NFHCA All-Region accolades as well as three All-SAA selections, including Defensive Player of the Year, Daryl Perry. As a team, the Lynx were NCAA Division III Statistical Champions in Shutouts per Game (0.59). Rhodes was also ranked sixth nationally in scoring margin (2.69), seventh in scoring average (3.80) and eighth nationally in goals per game (3.82). The Lynx finished the year with 65 goals and 10 shutouts.

Off the field, Rhodes earned Zag / NFHCA National Academic Award honors after securing a 3.44 GPA for the fall 2017 semester. Fourteen Lynx also took home individual academic honors. 

Prior to becoming Head Coach of the Lynx, Kasten served two seasons as Assistant Coach with the Division I Towson Tigers, in Towson, Maryland. During her tenure with the Tigers, she worked extensively with goalies and the offense and helped the Tigers excel defensively, leading the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and ranking third nationally for defensive saves with 16. The Tigers also ranked second in the CAA and 22nd among all DI programs with a 0.743 save percentage.

While in Maryland, Kasten also served as Coach of U14, U16 and U19 teams at Freedom HKY Club in College Park, MD, where she helped propel club rankings for all three age divisions.  

Kasten began her collegiate coaching career as the Assistant Field Hockey coach at Division III Earlham College, in Richmond, Indiana. As part of her role at Earlham, she performed administrative duties, assisted with recruiting, daily practice plans and field set up. Kasten also helped with game plans, scouting of opponents, team meals and statistics. While at Earlham, she served as the faculty representative for the HCAC Unified Bowling Event..

Kasten has earned her Level I and II coaching certifications from USA Field Hockey. She has attended the NCAA Emerging Leader seminar and is a graduate of the NCAA Women’s Coaching Academy.
    
Kasten has plenty of USA Field Hockey Futures experience as well, having worked with the program in both Ohio and Connecticut. She helped develop the skills of players ages 15-18, focusing on stick handling, receptions, hits and game play.
    
Prior to joining the staff at USA Field Hockey Futures, Kasten served as an assistant coach at Trumbull High School in Connecticut. She instructed players on fundamentals and new skills, created practice and conditioning skills, worked with players on offensive and defensive corners and helped goalkeepers develop skills.  She also worked as an assistant coach for the HTC Field Hockey Club in Connecticut, instructing players ages 11-18 on tactical and technical skills, as well as shooting skills and developing hits.
    
As a four-year player at Division I Sacred Heart University, Kasten led the Pioneers in scoring in three of her four seasons there. She finished her career with 21 goals and 4 assists. She earned academic honors each year of her career from the field hockey coach's association as well as the Northeast Conference. As a senior, she received the Coca-Cola Community All-American Award.

A 2013 graduate of Sacred Heart, Kasten earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology before receiving a Master's of Arts Degree in Elementary Education in 2014.
