Jeremy Massie is the newest pitching coach for the Lynx to begin the 2018 season. He joined Rhodes College in the middle of December.
Massie comes to Rhodes after successful stints at Ole Miss as both a pitcher and most recently Coordinator of Baseball Operations.
"We are excited to add Coach Massie to the baseball coaching staff," stated head coach Jeff Cleanthes. "His experience at Ole Miss both as a Director of Operations and pitcher has prepared him well for this next step. The pitchers met with Coach Massie last week and look forward to his leadership as we prepare for the 2018 season!"
In his management role, Massie oversaw the ordering of equipment and apparel, coordinated team meals and assisted with team travel. He also spent two years as a graduate assistant for the Rebels as head equipment manager.
In the summer of 2015, Massie became the pitching coach of the Waterloo Bucks of the Collegiate Wooden Bat League. The former Rebel managed the team's pitching staff, threw batting practice and assisted the head coach in game decisions.
Massie was a two-year letterwinner for the Rebels, holding a career 4-4 record on the mound with a 2.75 ERA. As a senior, he helped lead Ole Miss to its first College World Series appearance in 42 years; the Sardis, Mississippi, native pitched in 21 games, going 4-3 with a 2.69 ERA in 63.2 innings. He made a pair of appearances in Omaha, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings against national runner-up Virginia. In his first year on campus, Massie posted a 2.92 ERA in 19 outings spanning 24.2 innings.
Prior to arriving at Ole Miss, Massie spent two seasons at Northwest Mississippi Community College as an all-state pitcher. While completing his duties as the Rebels’ head manager, Massie earned his Master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications. He also earned his Bachelor’s degree from Ole Miss as a General Studies major. Massie was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
