Blake Bennett was hired by head coach Jeff Cleanthes to join the Lynx baseball staff prior to the 2022 season.
Bennett is a former local standout pitcher who attended Memphis University School and graduated in 2014. He attended Ole Miss, and took a redshirt as a varsity member of the Rebels baseball team in 2015. He then transferred to Itawamba Community College (MS), where he posted an 8-3 record. From there, he finished his college career at the University of Memphis. In two years as a Tiger, Bennett went 5-5 with a 3.75 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 72 innings.Â
He then played professionally in the Philadelphia Phillies organization in 2018, totaling 25 appearances, 7 saves, and a 4.24 ERA across three levels of play.
After retiring from the game, he was hired as an assistant football and baseball coach at Collierville High School, but had his time cut short due to COVID. He then joined the staff at his alma mater, Memphis Universty School, for the 2021 season. Â
Bennett graduated from Memphis with a degree in Sport and Leisure Management, and is currently pursuing his masters in Physical Education.Â
He and his wife, Madison, have a son named Bryson and two dogs, Nilla and Cooper.Â
