Laurel is from Hunstville, Alabama. Her parents are Clarissa and Hugh Sharp. She is pursuing a chemistry major with aspirations of medical school. In high school, Laurel was a National Merit Finalist in 2014 and her team’s captain for both Cross Country and Track. She was a member of the 4x800 meter State Champion relay, and was a state qualifier for both seasons all four years. Outside of running, Laurel is a Big Brothers Big Sisters volunteer, and a Memphis Zoo volunteer.
