Rhodes College: Mertie Buckman International internship (Warsaw, Poland).  First-Year Seidman Award in Political Science.  Kappa Sigma Fraternity Regional Sophomore of the Year.  Order of Omega.  Kappa Sigma Fraternity Student-Leader Award. 
 
High School: Eagle Scout
 
Personal: Son of Rick and Pat Washnock, Matt enters his senior year as one of the two captains of the men’s team.  He is the president of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Associate Editor of “Modus Vivendi” the International Relations Journal, and a member of Senior Class Council, Rhodes College Diplomats, Rhodes College Ambassadors, Memphis Crisis Center, Southern Tide Campus Ambassador and Annual Giving RSA.  He plans to continue on to pursue and advanced degree in security studies or public policy in the hopes of working for a university or other public service.  Matt is a big fan of college basketball, Top Gun, Risky Business, Frank Sinatra and Billy Joel (but only from the 80’s).
