Game Recap: Rhodes vs. Maryville College
The Rhodes College women's volleyball team opened Southern Athletic Association play with a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Maryville (Tenn.) on September 26 at Juhan Gymnasium in Sewanee, Tenn. The Lynx won the opening two sets, 25-22 and 29-27, before Maryville answered with wins in the third and fourth sets, 25-21 and 25-16. Rhodes battled back in the decisive fifth set, earning a 15-11 victory to improve to 8-2 overall and 1-0 in SAA play.
Key Performances
Caroline Short led Rhodes with 12 kills, while Yzzi Dsamou added 11 and Chloe Dunnigan finished with eight. Short and Dunnigan each recorded four blocks, while Anna Satterfield added three.
Luca Prest paced the Lynx with 23 assists, followed by Emma Clark with 20. Clark led Rhodes with 12 digs, while Meg Gebhart added 11 and Short finished with nine. Gebhart, Short and Dunnigan each recorded two aces.
Game Highlights
Rhodes came out strong, taking the first two sets in close fashion, including a 29-27 battle in the second set. Maryville responded by taking the third and fourth sets to force a deciding fifth frame.
The Lynx took control in the final set, holding Maryville to just four kills and no hitting percentage while securing the 15-11 victory.
Rhodes finished with 52 kills, eight aces, seven blocks, 48 assists and 65 digs. The victory marked the Lynx's first SAA win of the season.
Game Recap: Rhodes vs. Sewanee
In a hard-fought Southern Athletic Association matchup, the Rhodes College volleyball team battled back for a five-set victory over Sewanee by a final score of 3-2 on September 27 at Juhan Gymnasium in Sewanee, Tennessee. After dropping the opening set 25-23, the Lynx answered by taking the second set 25-23 before Sewanee regained the lead with a 25-20 third-set win. Rhodes closed the match strong, taking the fourth set 25-16 and the decisive fifth set 15-9 to improve to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in SAA play.
Key Performances
Yzzi Dsamou led the Lynx with 11 kills, while Caroline Short added nine kills and Anna Satterfield contributed seven. Chloe Dunnigan led Rhodes at the net with seven blocks, followed by Hadley Wright with five and Satterfield with four. Olivia Wiseman recorded a team-high four aces and led the defensive effort with 22 digs. Emma Clark paced the offense with 20 assists, while Luca Prest added 19 assists and nine digs.
Game Highlights
Rhodes finished the match with 52 kills, 13 aces, 11 blocks, 44 assists and 55 digs while hitting .254 as a team. The Lynx saved their strongest volleyball for the final two sets, hitting .375 in the fourth set before closing out the match with a .267 hitting percentage in the fifth. Rhodes also held Sewanee to a .174 hitting percentage for the match.
