Game Recap: Rhodes vs. Maryville College
The Rhodes College football team opened Southern Athletic Association play on Saturday, September 26, falling 38-3 to Maryville (Tenn.) at Crain Field in Memphis. The Lynx moved to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in SAA play following the contest.
Key Performances
Grady Jones provided Rhodes' lone score of the afternoon, connecting on a 31-yard field goal with seven seconds remaining in the first half. The kick capped a five-play, 16-yard drive and put the Lynx on the scoreboard.
Rhodes also saw Brennan Keim, Robert Daniel and Dunaven Kurak record notable individual performances, with Keim leading the team with 51 yards, Daniel totaling 16 and Kurak adding 29.
Game Highlights
Maryville opened the scoring with a first-quarter field goal before adding a rushing touchdown to take a 10-0 lead. The Scots added three touchdowns in the second quarter, including two 19-yard touchdown passes and a 41-yard interception return.Â
Jones' field goal just before halftime gave Rhodes its only points of the afternoon, sending the Lynx into the break trailing 31-3.
Maryville added a fourth-quarter touchdown to complete the scoring at 38-3.Â
