Softball Blanks Webster 5–0 Behind Strong Pitching

Game Recap vs Webster University

The Rhodes College softball team shut out Webster University 5–0 on March 9 in Eureka, Missouri, combining timely hitting with a dominant performance in the circle.
Rhodes struck first in the opening inning when Harper Allee-Press delivered an RBI single to bring home Athena Gonzales, giving the Lynx an early 1–0 lead. The Lynx added to their advantage in the third inning with two more runs. Allee-Press drove in another run with a groundout before Talia Travis followed with an RBI single to center, extending the Rhodes lead to 3–0.
Rhodes created additional separation in the seventh inning. Kaitlyn Sun grounded out to bring home Jasmyn Stanley, and Allee-Press capped off her strong day at the plate with another RBI single to score Gonzales and push the lead to 5–0.

Key Performances

Leading the offensive effort was Harper Allee-Press, who went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, driving in runs in the first, third, and seventh innings. Talia Travis added a 2-for-4 performance with an RBI, while Kate Ledlie also recorded two hits for the Lynx.
Athena Gonzales was a catalyst on the bases, scoring three runs while reaching base safely and applying pressure throughout the game.
In the circle, Gina Dudley earned the win, improving to 7–4 on the season. She allowed just two hits over four scoreless innings while striking out three. The Rhodes bullpen of Taylor Petty, Abby Froelich, and Emily Pertuit combined to close out the shutout as the Lynx pitching staff limited Webster to four hits on the day.
