Lyon struck first in the opening inning, capitalizing on a Rhodes error to plate an unearned run and take a 1–0 lead. Rhodes answered immediately. In the bottom of the first, Isabela Barber doubled to right field to score Harper Allee-Press, evening the score at 1–1. The game remained tight until the fourth inning, when the Lynx offense erupted. Emily Pertuit ignited the rally with an RBI double to left, scoring Kate Ledlie. Athena Gonzales followed with a two-RBI single to center, and Emma Whittington added an RBI double up the middle. Isabela Barber came through again with an RBI single, and a sacrifice RBI from Katie Bejian capped the six-run frame to give Rhodes a commanding 7–1 lead.
