The Rhodes College Football team, having experienced great roster turnover during the offseason, kicked off the 2025 season on the road against the WashU Bears.
The Bears made the playoffs last season and proved to be a strong opponent for the Lynx. Rhodes struggled to get things going on offense and were held scoreless in the contest. Dero Walker was the top offensive performer for the Lynx, making 2 receptions for 27 yards. Robert Daniel recorded 11 carries for 59 yards, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. Trey Hampton had 6 kick returns for 134 yards.
Defensively, Jonathan Torres and Lawrence Watts tied for the team lead in tackles with 7 a piece. Marshall Hansen and Trey Prather each recorded a sack in the game as well.
The Lynx would ultimately fall on the road by a final score of 49-0. They will return home next Saturday for the home opener against Austin College. The game will kick off at 6pm from Crain Field and will be streamed on the Lynx Live Network.
