Field Hockey Splits Weekend in Virginia

Game 1 Recap: Rhodes vs. Washington and Lee University

The Lynx traveled to Lexington, Virginia to take on the Washington and Lee University Generals on Saturday September 13, 2025. Rhodes opened with intensity and composure, but ultimately fell short in a 3-0 decision against the Generals.

Key Performances

In a defensively charged game, Ellie Pratka rose to the occasion with sharp organization, field awareness, and timely clears out of Rhodes defensive circle.

On the defensive line, Lora Chandler delivered a commanding performance, crushing the Generals offensive advances and distributing the ball upfield.

Goalkeeper Caroline Naifeh delivered a standout performance, recording 14 crucial saves to anchor the Lynx defense. Her quick reflexes and focus kept Rhodes competitive throughout the match.

The Lynx and Generals proved to be strong competitors in a tight match. Both teams battled through a scoreless first half, showing their defensive discipline. Washington and Lee broke the stalemate at 35:42 when Margaet Scheurer found the net, giving the Generals a lead. The intensity continued into the second half, with Scheuer striking again at 48:07. Just minutes later, Margaret Cover added a third goal at 58:54, sealing the lead for the Generals. Despite strong efforts and resilient defensive efforts, the Lynx were unable to convert their chances and fell to the Generals.

Game 2 Recap: Rhodes vs. Roanoke College

On Sunday, September 14, 2025, Rhodes faced the Roanoke College Maroons in a competitive non-conference matchup in Roanoke, Virginia. The Lynx delivered a focused and resilient performance, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory to end their Virginia weekend on a high note.

Key Performances

Bella Spina sparked the Lynx offense, creating key opportunities throughout the match. She broke the tie with a decisive goal to secure the win for Rhodes.

Zoë Dzialowski was a commanding force in the midfield, constantly creating plays and reading the field to execute during a back and forth match.

The Lynx will face the Maryville Saints on Mason field, eager for a rematch after a preseason scrimmage loss. Since that game, the Lynx have refined their skills, preparing for another competitive showdown against the Saints. Not only will this be a competitive non-conference matchup but it is also their Epilepsy Awareness game, an opportunity to show support and honor those affected by epilepsy.
