Following a weekend off over Easter break, the Rhodes College Baseball team came back to Stauffer Field to play another game against the MUW Owls. The Lynx decided to make it a bullpen game as they threw 5 different pitchers to get the job done. The offense showed up, drawing 17 walks and scoring 10 runs.
Austin Smith drove in the first earned runs of the ballgame on a 2 RBI single up the middle to tie the game at 3. The very next batter, Myles Kruger delivered a 2 RBI double into the left field gap to take the lead. Ben Daniel would then follow it up with a bunt single, scoring Kruger and extending the lead to 6-3.
In the bottom of the 6th, Cooper Kuriger punched a single up the middle to plate 2 more Lynx. Austin Smith would then draw a bases loaded walk, recording his 3rd RBI of the game. A Brandon Trichell sacrifice fly would score the 10th run of the game, giving the pitching staff plenty of cushion to pitch with.
Mick Arney (8-1) got the win on the mound, tossing 4.0 innings, allowing 4 hits, 0 runs, and striking out 4.
Rhodes improves their record to 23-13 (9-6) on the season as they head into the final series of the season against Oglethorpe 17-18 (4-11). There will be a doubleheader on Saturday followed by game 3 on Sunday. Live coverage of all 3 games can be found on the Lynx Live Network.
