Rhodes Outpaces Berry in Conference Opener

MT. BERRY, GA – The Rhodes College men's lacrosse team secured a dominant 24-13 victory over Berry College on the road, improving to 6-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play. A fast-paced offensive effort and aggressive defense allowed the Lynx to take control early and maintain their lead throughout the contest.

Key Performances: The Lynx came out firing in the first quarter, scoring eight goals to take an 8-4 lead. Andrew Murphy and Drew Litner sparked the attack, each scoring multiple times. Rhodes continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, adding seven more goals while holding Berry to just two, extending the halftime advantage to 15-6.
Rhodes' efficiency in extra-man opportunities proved crucial, converting 3-of-4 attempts. The Lynx outshot Berry 55-38, with 40 of those shots on target. Their defensive effort also stood out, winning the ground ball battle 45-29 and forcing 14 turnovers. They also excelled in transition, completing 17 of 19 clear attempts and maintaining possession throughout key stretches of the game.
Berry attempted to rally in the fourth quarter, scoring five goals, but Rhodes' early dominance ensured the result was never in doubt. The Lynx sealed the victory with three late goals, including scores from Mayer and Maxim. Their ability to maintain a steady offensive rhythm while limiting turnovers played a key role in their success.
In goal, Rhodes' defense stood strong, limiting Berry to just 22 shots on goal. The Lynx goalkeepers combined for nine saves, while Berry's net minder was forced to make 16 saves under heavy pressure. Confidence is high within the squad as they prepare to build on their success and continue their strong form.
