Women’s Golf Shines on National Stage with Top-Five Finish at Jekyll Island Collegiate

Rhodes Women's Golf delivered an impressive performance at the Jekyll Island Collegiate, securing a top-five finish with a team score of 933 (311-316-306) at the King and Prince Golf Course in St. Simons Island, GA. Finishing 5th in this highly competitive national-level tournament is a major accomplishment, showcasing the Lynx's ability to compete among the best teams in the country. The Lynx demonstrated resilience and consistency throughout the event, with a stellar final round of 306 marking their best team effort. Their strong showing not only reinforced their competitive edge for the remainder of the season but also highlighted a significant achievement—finishing ahead of several nationally ranked teams.

Rhodes outperformed No. 9 NYU, No. 11 Amherst, No. 13 Randolph-Macon, No. 15 Washington & Lee, (T) No. 17 Denison, No. 19 Redlands, No. 23 Methodist, and No. 24 Christopher Newport. Furthermore, the Lynx closely trailed the top five nationally ranked teams, cementing their position as a formidable force on the national stage.

Leading the charge for the Lynx was Ava Bankston, who finished tied for 12th individually. Bankston opened with a strong round of 71, followed by an 82 in the second round. She rebounded impressively on the final day, posting an even-par 72 to close with a total score of 225.

Emily Mu turned in a consistent effort across three rounds, finishing tied for 35th. After an opening-round 80, Mu improved with a 75 in the second round but closed with a 79, bringing her total to 234.

Megan Morris showed resilience, steadily improving each round. She started with an 82, then posted an 80 in round two before finishing strong with a 75, securing a tie for 44th at 237.

Grace Young faced some challenges but put up a commendable effort, finishing tied for 68th with rounds of 78, 87, and 83 for a 248 total.

Lauren Schwing rounded out the Rhodes lineup, showing determination as she recovered from a tough first round of 91 to post scores of 79 and 80 in the final two rounds. She finished in a tie for 74th with a total score of 250.

Additionally, the Rhodes Women's B Team competed as individuals at the Jekyll Island Women Individual Invitational at Jekyll Island Golf Club. Weatherly Spence led the way for Rhodes, finishing in 6th place with a total score of +28 (12-8-8). Emilia Schwenk followed in 8th place at +40 (13-14-13), while Stirling Legge secured 9th place at +46 (16-16-14). Gianna Martino finished tied for 10th with a +48 (18-20-10), and Sophia Zamora rounded out the Rhodes competitors in 15th place with a +89 (33-22-34). Their strong effort and valuable experience in individual play contributed to an overall successful event for Rhodes Women's Golf.
