Returning from their spring break trip in Florida, the Rhodes College Baseball team hit the road once again for a 3 game conference set against the Sewanee Tigers. Saturday saw a double header in which the Lynx were firing on all cylinders, winning the series on day 1.
Game 1:
Game 1 was highlighted by
Zac Sohosky who made his 6th start of the season and recorded his 4th win. He dealt 6.0 innings without giving up any runs and striking out 6. The offense backed him up with 3 runs on the board thanks to RBI's from
Brandon Trichell,
Corbin Kinder, and
Cooper Kuriger.
Corbin Kinder finished the game 2-4 with 2 doubles and an RBI, paving the way for the Lynx first conference victory. The final score of game 1 would be 3-2 in favor of the Lynx.
Game 2:
Immediately following the victory, the Lynx got set to play one more to round out the doubleheader. The Lynx offense was the story of this one as they were able to score 10 runs in the game. Top performers include
Brandon Trichell (3-4, 2B, RBI),
Brad Larson (3-4, 2B, 3 RBI), and
Cooper Angilly (3-4, 4 RBI). Freshman pitcher
Reid Manti made a solid start on the mound as he tossed 5.0 innings, allowing 3 runs and putting the Lynx in position to secure the win. Rhodes would go on to win game 2 by a final score of 10-6.
Game 3:
After sweeping the Saturday doubleheader against the conference rival Sewanee Tigers, the Lynx got set to play their final game of a tough 10 game road trip. Having already claimed the series victory, the Lynx had their eyes set on a sweep, but the Tigers would prove a formidable opponent. Sewanee's offense was hot from the jump as they put up 16 runs throughout the game. For Rhodes, their offense could not get anything going until the top of the 6th inning in which
Brandon Trichell smashed his 4th homer of the year, awarding him 2 RBI's. Another player to highlight is
Brian Stephens who singled home a run in a pinch hit at bat late in the game. The Lynx would fall in game 3 of the series by a final score of 18-5.
Their record moves to 14-10 (4-2) on the season as they complete their 10 game road stretch. They will return home to Stauffer Field for a 3 game series against the Berry College Vikings. The series will consist of a single game on Friday followed by a double header to complete the series on Saturday. Coverage of each game can be found on the Lynx Live Network.
