The Rhodes College Softball team hit the road to Montgomery, Alabama to face two quality opponents in Mount St. Joseph University and Huntingdon College.
Game 1 was a matchup between Rhodes and Mount St. Joseph. Despite pushing a couple of runs across early thanks to RBI's from
Quinn Thompson and
Katie Bejian, the Lynx fell short by a final score of 7-3.
In game 2 against Huntingdon, the Lynx were unable to plate any runners and were defeated 16-0.
Game 3 was once again against Mount St. Joseph, and was a much closer affair. In the top of the 3rd,
Jasmyn Stanley drove in
Quinn Thompson to put the first run on the board. Shortly thereafter,
Madison Bromley drove in
Harper Allee-Press and cut the lead down to 3-2 in favor of Huntingdon. After Huntingdon extended their lead, the Lynx fought back, plating 3 runs in the final 2 innings thanks to RBI's from
Savannah Russell and
Emma Caplinger. Unfortunately, the Lynx comeback efforts would fall short, and they would go down in a close 6-5 final.
For game 4, the Lynx offense struggled to get anything going.
Harper Allee-Press was responsible for the only run of the game as she drove home
Quinn Thompson. Lynx starting pitcher
Gina Dudley put together a fantastic start as she pitched 7.1 innings, only allowing 1 earned run. However, the Lynx would fall short once again in a 2-1 ball game.
The Lynx record falls to 1-7 on the year and they will travel to Maryville, Tennessee next weekend for four more games against Maryville College and Roanoke College.
