ATLANTA, Ga. — The Rhodes College Lynx battled until the final buzzer but fell short in a 73-70 loss to Oglethorpe University in the SAA Quarterfinals. Despite a strong first-half performance and key contributions from multiple players, Rhodes was unable to hold off Oglethorpe.
Rhodes started the game with confidence, outscoring Oglethorpe 31-27 in the first half. The Lynx maintained their lead into the second half, but Oglethorpe responded with a 46-point effort after halftime to pull the victory. Despite Rhodes' efforts to reclaim the lead in the last few minutes, Oglethorpe's late-game execution secured their spot in the SAA semifinals. The Lynx controlled the glass and capitalized at the free-throw line, but Oglethorpe's ability to score in the paint and convert in transition proved to be the difference.
