Women's Basketball Falls Late to Ozarks

Game Recap: Rhodes vs. University of the Ozarks

In a back-and-forth matchup marked by scoring runs and momentum swings, the Rhodes College women's basketball team fell to Ozarks 84–78 on November 30 inside Mabee Gymnasium in Clarksville. The Lynx put together a strong offensive performance behind standout showings from their top scorers, but Ozarks' timely shooting and transition success proved the difference in the final minutes.

Key Performances

AC Milam powered the Lynx offensively with 28 points, knocking down four threes and going 8-for-11 at the line. She consistently found gaps in the Eagles' defense and delivered much-needed buckets to keep Rhodes within striking distance throughout the afternoon.

Avery Marsh turned in one of her most complete performances of the season, finishing with 27 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals while playing all 40 minutes. Her relentless downhill attacks and playmaking were essential in sparking multiple Rhodes runs.

In the frontcourt, Alyssa Bongiovanni controlled the glass, grabbing a team-high 15 rebounds (12 defensive) while adding 6 points and a block. Her presence inside helped Rhodes stay even on the boards against an Ozarks squad that crashes aggressively.

Mackenzie McKown, Giana Vlahakos, and Audrey Griffith each contributed 6 points, with Griffith hitting a key three off the bench.

Game Highlights

Rhodes battled through an early deficit, responding with a sharp second quarter in which they shot 69% from the field and poured in 23 points, trimming the Ozarks lead to 39–38 at halftime.

The third quarter became a shootout, with both teams trading buckets and momentum. Rhodes' perimeter shooting kept them close, but Ozarks countered with transition baskets, eventually creating separation behind an 8-for-16 shooting frame.

The Lynx continued to push in the fourth, getting late threes and physical drives from Marsh and Milam, but Ozarks capitalized on free throws and second-chance opportunities to hold off the comeback effort.

Up Next: Rhodes vs. Hendrix College

Rhodes returns home to Mallory Gymnasium to face Hendrix College on Saturday December 6 at 3PM. The Lynx look to regroup and defend their home court as they aim to build momentum heading into December play.
