The Rhodes College football team wrapped up its 2025 season on Saturday afternoon at Crain Field, falling 28–3 to Centre in the Southern Athletic Association finale. Despite the result, the Lynx showed toughness, highlighted by a strong defensive performance and a field goal drive that tied the game early in the second quarter.
Rhodes put together its best early drive of the afternoon late in the first quarter, sparked by completions from Brennan Keim to Calvin Welker, Dero Walker, and a 32-yard strike to Austin Smith down the left sideline. That momentum carried into the second quarter, where Logan Ahern knocked through a 33-yard field goal to make it 3–3. Ahern finished the season perfect on field goals at home.
Defensively, the Lynx continued to play with grit and physicality. Blake Coogan and Henry Walter each tallied nine tackles, with Walter adding two tackles for loss and a sack to lead the defensive front. Lawrence Watts contributed eight stops, while Chyco Williams delivered one of the highlights of the game with a second-quarter interception and multiple pass breakups. Junior lineman Jay Davis added four tackles and two tackles for loss.
Offensively, Rhodes spread the ball around through the air, with ten different players recording receptions. Smith led the way with 32 receiving yards, while Keim and Haas combined for 131 passing yards on the afternoon. Junior running back Robert Daniel paced the ground attack with 10 yards, and Grady Jones turned in another strong outing at punter, averaging 39.7 yards per kick with a long of 48.
With the loss, Rhodes closes the season at 1–9 overall (0–7 SAA). The Lynx now turn their attention to offseason development, returning a strong core of underclassmen as they begin preparations for the 2026 campaign.
