Women's Basketball Drops Two at Home

Game Recap: Rhodes vs. East Texas Baptist University 

In a challenging non-conference matchup at Mallory Gymnasium, the Rhodes College women's basketball team fell to East Texas Baptist, 71–43, on November 14, 2025. After a competitive second quarter, the Lynx were unable to keep pace with ETBU's balanced scoring and inside presence in the second half.

Key Performances

Avery Marsh led the way for Rhodes with 11 points, adding 5 assists and 1 rebound in 33 minutes of action.
Mackenzie McKown followed with 9 points, knocking down 3 three-pointers and contributing 5 rebounds and 2 steals.

In the frontcourt, Alyssa Bongiovanni posted a strong rebounding performance with 10 boards to go with 6 points.
AC Milam added 6 points, 2 assists, and 1 steal, while Giana Vlahakos contributed 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 block. Off the bench, Kelsey Willingham scored 4 points, and Audrey Griffith added 3 points and 1 steal.

Game Highlights

Rhodes found early rhythm from beyond the arc, connecting on 7 three-pointers in the game, including 3 from McKown and 2 from Milam. The Lynx put together their strongest stretch in the second quarter, shooting 58.3% from the field and outscoring ETBU 16–15 in the frame.

In the second half, East Texas Baptist pulled away behind consistent scoring and a 36–12 advantage in points in the paint. Rhodes continued to battle defensively, forcing 12 ETBU turnovers and scoring 14 fast-break points, but the Tigers closed the game on a strong fourth-quarter push.


Game Recap: Rhodes vs. Hardin-Simmons University 

Rhodes dropped its Saturday matchup to Hardin-Simmons, 81–50, on November 15, 2025, at Mallory Gymnasium in Memphis. After a difficult first and third quarter, the Lynx put together a strong offensive surge in the fourth but were unable to overcome HSU's efficient shooting and deep scoring rotation.

Key Performances

Alyssa Bongiovanni led Rhodes with a double-double performance, scoring 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting and grabbing a team-high 11 rebounds.
Avery Marsh added 10 points, a perfect 8-of-10 from the free-throw line, along with 3 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block.

AC Milam contributed 7 points and 1 steal, while Giana Vlahakos added 2 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Off the bench, Omaida Caviness provided an efficient spark with 6 points on 4-of-5 free throws and added 1 steal.

Game Highlights

Rhodes' most effective stretch came in the fourth quarter, where the Lynx scored 21 points—their highest-scoring period of the game—and shot 41.7% from the field while going 10-of-11 at the free-throw line.

Hardin-Simmons built its lead early behind hot perimeter shooting, making 10 three-pointers and scoring 42 points in the paint. The Cowgirls' bench added 41 points, creating consistent pressure throughout the game.

Rhodes finished with 30 rebounds, 6 steals, and 4 blocks, with Bongiovanni and Vlahakos leading the defensive presence inside.
