Volleyball Drops Two on the Road

Game Recap 1: Rhodes vs. Sewanee

The Rhodes College Volleyball team traveled to Sewanee, Tennessee, for a conference matchup on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Despite a competitive effort, the Lynx fell in three sets to the Tigers (18-25, 17-25, 22-25).

Rhodes opened the first set with solid attacking from the pins, but Sewanee's efficiency at the net gave them the edge. The Lynx battled to stay within reach, but the Tigers closed out the set 25-18. In the second set, Sewanee continued their rhythm offensively while Rhodes struggled to find consistency, falling 25-17.

The Lynx responded with their strongest performance in the third set, tallying 12 kills while tightening up defensively. Rhodes held the lead early and pushed late, but Sewanee made a late run to take the set 25-22 and secure the sweep.

Yzzi Dsamou led the offense with 7 kills, followed by Meg Gebhart with 6 and Caroline Short with 5. Gebhart added a team-high 3 aces, while Short and Emma Clark combined for 3 more. At the net, Rachel Clarke and Dsamou each recorded 2 blocks. Emma Clark paced the offense with 13 assists, and Mackenzie Geer added 9. Defensively, Olivia Wiseman anchored the back row with 14 digs, while Geer (8) and Short (6) contributed key coverage.

Game Recap 1: Rhodes vs. Centre College

The Rhodes Lynx fell in three tightly contested sets at Centre on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in a SAA matchup. Despite strong individual performances and a resilient effort across all three sets, the Lynx were unable to overcome the Colonels, who took the match 25-21, 27-25, 28-26.

Rhodes saw multiple players step up offensively. Rachel Clarke and Caroline Short led the attack with nine kills apiece, while Yzzi Dsamou added seven. Emma Clark directed the offense with 16 assists and contributed three aces, supported by Mackenzie Geer's 15 assists. Defensively, Olivia Wiseman recorded 12 digs and also contributed with an ace and four assists, while Sophie Snodgrass, Clarke, and Hope Wehrli combined for eight total blocks.

The Lynx showed determination and fought point-for-point in each set, keeping the match competitive until the final points. While the team fell short, the balanced contributions from both the front line and the back row highlight the depth and versatility of the squad moving forward.

Now 9-14 overall and 3-8 in SAA play, Rhodes will face Millsaps at home on October 24, 2025. The Lynx will look to regroup and continue to improve as conference play continues.
