Rhodes College today announced Paul Goebel as Head Women's Tennis Coach.
"We are thrilled to announce Paul as our new Women's Head Coach. His experience as a Head Coach and understanding of the type of student-athletes who strive at Rhodes make him a great fit for our culture. We are excited for the next chapter in Lynx Women's Tennis."
Gobel has served as the Director of Tennis Memphis for the past year, overseeing five tennis centers and over 70 courts. Before his position at Tennis Memphis, he was the Head Men's Coach at the University of Memphis for twenty years. During his tenure at Memphis, the Tigers appeared in six NCAA Tournaments, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2018. Gobel was named Conference Coach of the Year twice during his tenure.
"I would like to thank the Rhodes staff for trusting me to become the next Head Women's Tennis Coach. I believe Rhodes is one of the best colleges in the country in one of the great cities in America. I am excited to get started and build on what all the previous coaches have accomplished at Rhodes. I am confident that my experience will ensure a fun team environment in the continued development of these student-athletes both on and off the tennis court."
Gobel will assume his position at Rhodes on July 29, 2024.
