Lynx Roll Past Transylvania to Advance to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament

The Lynx dominated the first round of the NCAA Tournament beating Transylvania 22-9 this afternoon in Lexington, VA.

From the opening whistle to the buzzer, Rhodes showed their offensive prowess with ten different goal scorers throughout the game. Sierra Anderson led the charge, scoring an impressive five goals. Joining her were teammates Alban Erdle, Julia Dalessandro, and Anna Erskine, each contributing crucial goals to secure their victory. The Rhodes offense displayed remarkable coordination, with Molly Martiner, Chloe Parker, Molly Heidrick, and Caroline Kardian offering key assists to keep the scoreboard ticking.

The Lynx kept a steady pace scoring 5 goals in the first, 6 in the second and third, and 5 in the fifth. Rhode also dominated in Draw Controls securing 21 out of the 34 controls in the game.

Olivia Wood was a key factor in the Rhodes defense with 6 saves in the game. Isabella Sklena also contributed to the defense securing 4 ground balls. Emma Norris, Avery Burke, and Juila Dalessandro had three ground balls as well. The lynx caused 12 turnovers in the game with Bari Pinkett leading the lynx with two.  

In the end, Rhodes emerged victorious with a final score of 22-9, showcasing their dominance in multiple facets of the game. With a significant advantage in shots and ground balls, Rhodes dictated the pace, leaving Transylvania with limited opportunities to stage a comeback.

The Lynx will now move on to round two facing Washington and Lee tomorrow Sunday May 12th, 2024. The game will take place at W&L at 12pm eastern time.
