Women's Lacrosse Remains Undefeated in SAA

The Rhodes College Lynx head into yet another SAA conference game with a 3-0 record against the Oglethorpe University Stormy Petrels with a 1-2 record. 

Today's game was dedicated to our 7 seniors: Avery BurkeChloe ParkerEmma NorrisMolly MartinerSierra AndersonJules Dalessandro, and Isabella Sklena. We also took time to recognize the Petrel's seniors as well. 

To start the game, junior Anna Erskine started the run on the scoreboard by taking the ball to the cage unassisted. Senior Chloe Parker received the ball from senior Molly Martiner to bury the ball into the back of the net. Right off another quick possession, sophomore Caroline Kardian hit a true 6 by 6 goal from right outside the 8-meter line on a step-down shot. The Petrels responded with 3 goals after the Lynx offensive run. 

Going into the 2nd quarter, the Lynx rose above the chippier, physical Petrels. The scoreboard was racked up by the Lynx's offensive domination with 6 unanswered goals by Avery BurkeAnna ErskineChloe ParkerAlban ErdleMolly Heidrick, and Molly Martiner. The Petrels were able to respond with 2 more goals. The Lynx were able to seal the half at 12-5. 

Setting up for the third quarter, first-year Maddie BeVier fires hard at the cage, tallying another goal for the Lynx. Avery Burke gets possession and is able to dance around her defender, resulting in another Lynx goal, her second of the game. First-year Alban Erdle finds her way to the cage yet again, tallying her third goal of the game. The score stood at 15-10 going into the fourth quarter.

To wrap up the senior dedication game, the Lynx truly dug deep to leave it all out there. Maddie BeVier received an assist from Molly Martiner, resulting in a low bouncer into the net. Junior Molly Heidrick took it upon herself to add yet another goal unassisted, resulting in her 2nd goal of the game. Sophomore Nur Hamada was put onto the center hash for an 8-meter and was able to rip it right into the back of the net. Anna Erskine seals the score at 19-10 to finish the game strong. The Lynx defense was able to shut out the Petrels in the 4th quarter, and tally 10 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. Junior Bari Pinkett collected 4 GB's and 6 CT's, senior Emma Norris collected 3 GB's and 4 CT's, sophomore Rory Monahan tallied 2 GB's and 2 CT's, and senior Bella Sklena tallied 2 GB's and 1 CT. 

Our midfield unit was dominant on the draw, totaling 24, compared to Petrel's 8. 
Caroline Kardian racked up 9, Bari Pinkett tallied 6, Avery Burke collected 4, and Anna Erskine grabbed 2. Junior goalie Olivia Wood saved 2 goals due to the strong defensive unit standing in front to protect her. 

The Lynx travel this weekend to Lexington, KY, to take on Transylvania University on Friday, April 12th, at 5 p.m. CT.
