This weekend, the Lynx Baseball team took on the Birmingham Southern Panthers in a 3-game series.
The Panther offense was clicking all day in the doubleheader as they plated 7 runs in game 1, which was enough to pick up the victory by a score of 7-2. The only Lynx runs came thanks to a 2 RBI single from
Quinn Blackman in the bottom of the 1st.
Zac Sohosky had a good start on the mound, firing 5.0 innings and striking out 13 batters, though he is charged with the loss.
Game 2 was a similar story, as the Lynx could not slow down the Panther bats. Offensive highlights for the Lynx included an RBI triple from freshman
Clay Richardson, an RBI double from
Quinn Blackman, and another triple off the bat of
Ben Burkhart. Unfortunately, the late-game effort from the Lynx would not be enough to complete the comeback, and they fell in game 2 by a score of 9-4.
There was no slowing the Panther offense on Sunday as they put up 16 runs to complete the sweep. The Lynx offense had their best game of the series, though, and they were able to scratch across 7 runs. Highlights from the game include
Quinn Blackman's 5th home run of the season and the first career homer for the freshman
Cooper Kuriger. The Rhodes's offensive effort would not be enough, as they would fall to the Panthers in game 3 by a score of 16-7.
The Lynx will be back in action from Stauffer Field on Wednesday (April 17) in a midweek single-game contest against Belhaven University. The game is set for 3 p.m., and you can either catch it in person or on the Lynx Live Network.
