Sohosky Deals 8 Strong Powering Lynx Past Maryville

After a thrilling walk off victory over Asbury University, the Lynx made their way to the University of Memphis to play their second of the Spring Break Tournament against the Maryville College Scots. The bats were alive from the jump as Rhodes posted 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st. The first 3 Lynx batters reached base allowing for Corbin Kinder to draw a bases loaded walk and kickstart the scoring. A single from freshman Cooper Kuriger found a hole up the middle to plate both Dante Messina and Eli Selby, extending the lead to 3. The Lynx weren't done yet though as another freshman in Charlie Meyer laid a picture-perfect bunt down the 3rd base line that allowed Corbin Kinder to cross the plate. The Lynx continued into the bottom of the 2nd as a line drive single into left field off the bat of Corbin Kinder would drive Eli Selby in from second and extend the Lynx lead to 5-0.

That would prove to be all the offense Rhodes needed and more as Zac Sohosky tossed 8.0 innings of 1 run baseball, keeping the Scots scoreless until the top of the 8th. The sophomore left hander only allowed 6 hits and struck out 7 on his way to securing his 4th win of the season and moving his record to a perfect 4-0.

Rhodes would then turn the final inning over to their sophomore closer, Will May, who was able to close the door on the Scots after pitching a scoreless bottom of the 9th, giving the Lynx win number 11 on the season by a final score of 5-1.

A pair of Freshman in Cooper Kuriger and Charlie Meyer highlight the offensive effort for the Lynx as they recored 2 RBIs and 1 RBI respectively. Both also recorded 2 hits on the day.

The Lynx will be back in action tomorrow (Sunday, March 17) from Stauffer field as they take on the Grinnell College Pioneers at noon to round out the Spring Break Tournament.
