On Saturday, February 24, the women's basketball team took on the one-seeded and host of the SAA Conference Tournament Millsaps College Majors. Rhodes is in the semi-finals after being a part of a double-overtime thriller last weekend. They haven't had any success this season against Millsaps, as they have lost their previous two matchups against them. Will Rhodes overcome them to return to their fourth consecutive SAA Championship game?
The first two quarters were a dogfight between both teams as their defensive intensity set the tone. Rhodes also struggled to shoot the ball, as they finished the half shooting only 21 percent from the field and 13 percent from three. It didn't help that they kept settling for jumpers and had 7 turnovers. This was arguably their worst first two-quarters of basketball all season, but that didn't stop them from making Millsaps struggle, just as the Majors had 8 turnovers and shot just as poorly from the field. The Lynx's high energy kept this game close, which was reflected in the halftime score as Rhodes was down 26-28.
In the last two quarters, Rhodes's offensive struggles continued, and Millsaps's home-court advantage kicked in as they blew the half wide open with their scoring that started with a barrage of threes. In the second half, Rhodes was outscored by 19 and was defeated 47-68. The leading scorers were
Catherine Althoff with 14,
Kearstyn Seay with 11, and
A'niya Lagarde with a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
