Rhodes Lacrosse Earns Big Split Opening Home Games

RHODES 6  vs (#15) ST. LAWRENCE 15

On Saturday, February 17th, Rhodes hosted #15 St. Lawrence (Canton, NY) on historic Crain Field on the campus of Rhodes College. Both teams came out firing and traded goals early, but as the game wore on St. Lawrence settled into the game quicker than Rhodes and was able to capitalize on a couple of miscues on defense and some untimely turnovers on offense. Down 9-2 at half, Rhodes regroup and kept the Saints scoreless for nearly 18 minutes stretching over the 2nd and 3rd quarters, while the offense started to get back on track trimming the visitors lead to 9-5. But, the Lynx couldn't get any closer...and St. Lawrence pulled away for the 15-6 in Rhodesville.

Highlights for the game:

*Our Faceoff Units of  led by Dylan Farley, David Hart, and Lucas Pagliarulo kept the St. Lawrence faceoff crew and their honorable mention faceoff specialist off balance on the day.

*Drew Downes netted 5 goals on 12 shots

*Our goalie unit of Josh Salisbury and Charlie Herlocher combined for 9 saves and directed clears effectively all game

RHODES 15 vs SOUTHWESTERN 3

On Sunday, February 18th, Rhodes playing back to back was pitted against a feisty Southwestern squad (Georgetown, TX) on the historic Crain Field in the heart of Midtown Memphis. After an spirited and erratic 1st quarter with the score tied at 3-3, the Lynx settled down and methodically wore down Southwestern. The defense showed their assertiveness and held the Pirates scoreless for 45 minutes while the offense started playing more cohesively generating quality shots. The Lynx led 9-3 at half and never looked back winning 15-3.

Highlights for the game:

*The defense holding SU scoreless for 45 mninutes....led by the goalie tandem of Josh Salibury and Charlie Herlocher with strong contributions from Nick Bilotti, Ben Johnson, and Brogan Balasubramani.

*The faceoff units shined going  

*Strong offensive games put in by Drew Downes, Drew Litner, Geist Pollock
