Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Lynx Lose Thriller to No. 2 WashU

Sunday, December 1st, the Rhodes College Men's Basketball team lost a close contest against No. 2 WashU, in day two of the All Academic Classic in Memphis, Tennessee.

Recap: Rhodes College vs Washington University

Key Performances:
- Trevor Lombard was the leading scorer with 21 points (5-9 from three point range)
- Zavien Williams contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds
- Shawn Jones Jr. led the team in rebounding with 8

The first half started off slow for Rhodes as WashU went on a 7-0 run. Rhodes struggled to find open looks as WashU's length seemed to throw off their game. At least 90% percent of Rhodes's shot attempts were contested which is why they shot an abysmal 25% from the field making only 7 made baskets. On the defensive side of the ball Rhodes's intensity was at an all time high, however WashU's offense was flowing as their tough shot making ability carried them to a 20 point lead over the Lynx to end the half.

Starting the second half down 19-39, the Lynx knew they had to get the momentum on their side . The Lynx came out of the locker room with a new found  energy and quickly closed the Bears lead.  As intense as the Lynx were they were also very composed as they slowly fought back to cut the lead down to 8 points with six minutes to go. Their defensive effort went up a notch this half and the tough shots that WashU was making last half were not going in. The Lynx found themselves down double digits with three minutes left, but that didn't matter as they entered a flow state that came with a barrage of threes and amazing defensive stops to be down 5 with forty seconds to go. With so little time to go Rhodes had to play the free throw game and unfortunately ended up losing this close contest 64-70.

Team Statistics:
- The Lynx had 18 points off turnovers and 27 points from the bench
