Los Lynx Win First Conference Matchup

It is finally Conference season and the women's Rhodes basketball team are playing their first conference game on the road against Hendrix College.

In the first quarter Rhodes came ready to dominate as they outscored Hedrix 18-5. Their defense forced Hendrix to shoot an abysmal 10% from the field as they missed 18 of their 20 shots attempted. Hendrix did not score a field goal until the 5:32 mark and it did not help Hendrix's case that Rhodes' defense was so flawless that Rhodes did not send their opponent to the line once in the first quarter.

Hendrix finally woke up and made the second quarter competitive as both teams traded buckets. This quarter was Rhodes' turn to have a bad shooting display. They shot 30% from the field because they started settling for jumpers. Dominating their opponent in the paint is Rhodes' bread and butter. In the second quarter 3 of their 4 made field goals were layups and the rest of their points were from the free throw line as they went 4 for 4. As the buzzer sounded for halftime the Lynx were up 30-20.

In the last two quarters Hendrix did their best to go back and forth with Rhodes. They succeeded as Rhodes only outscored them 39-36 to end the ball game. However, after Rhodes's dominating first quarter performance Hendrix was playing catch-up the whole game. Rhodes showed they were the much better team as they had more bench points, points off turnovers, and paint points than Hendrix. The Lynx won the game 69-56 with three of their players being in double digits in points. Kearstyn Seay scored 10, Avery Marsh had 14 and Giana Vlahakos finished with a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Go Lynx!!!
