Saturday afternoon the Men's basketball team easily secured their second win of the season against Webster University. Similar to their first win they won in blowout fashion with the end score being 91-67.
It was all about offense for Rhodes as they started the game with a 7-0 run against Webster. The team was clicking on all cylinders due to their unselfish play and because of their ball movement they shot 49% from the field, 53% from three, and recorded 12 assists with another half left to play. Freshman guard
Trevor Lombard led the way offensively in the first half, scoring an efficient 20 points on 10 shots with most of his made field goals being threes. As the buzzer sounded Rhodes was up 51-28.
Even though Rhodes was already winning by a huge margin they still came out in the second half focused and dominated Webster like they did in the first half. Rhodes seemed to be the far better team because for the entirety of the game Rhodes never trailed once. They drew more fouls, shot a better percentage, and had more assists than their opponent. This display of beautiful team basketball on the offensive end resulted in four players scoring in the double digits with one of these players being
Phil Dotson who had 31.
Rhodes improved to 2-3 and look to finish this weekend 2-0 as they take on a nationally ranked Wash-U on Sunday.
