Los Lynx Pick Up Win Over BSC!

Los Lynx picked up a big conference win against BSC 95-90 Friday night during the annual Fight for Literacy game! The win improves the Lynx conference record to 3-1. It was also the highest scoring game of the season for the Lynx.

A barn-burner from the jump. The first half saw 21 fast break points (Lynx 14- Panthers 7). The Lynx were able to get a leg up on the fast break battle by continually breaking the press BSC was throwing at them. Taya Lee led the Lynx on the offensive end and finished the half shooting a perfect 6-6 from the floor for 12 points. Taylor Dupree wasn't far behind and finished the half with 11 points on 5-6 shooting. Alexys Mathangani added 7 points of her own and had 3 assists. Overall, the Lynx had a tremendous half from the floor shooting (19-33, 57.6%) and held the Panthers under 25% shooting (12-56, 21.4%) on the defensive end despite the fast pace of play. They also won the paint battle 34-16, another product of their ability to break the press. The Lynx forced 7 turnovers in the half and had an impressive 8 blocks, led by Giana Vlahakos who had 3. By the end of the 2nd, the Lynx led the Panthers 45-32.

The 2nd half was even more of a scoring battle than the 1st. The Panthers refused to go away despite the Lynx building a double-digit lead in the 3rd. Kearstyn Seay was massive for the Lynx in the 2nd half and finished the game with 24 points, leading all scorers. She also added 5 assists and 7 rebounds. Taya Lee continued her scoring ways in the half and finished the game with a double-double (21 pts and 11 rebounds). For the game, the Lynx shot 50% from the floor and had 5 players finish in double-figures. The won the rebounding battle 67-46, which led to 25 second chance points and 68 paint points. The Panthers made a run late in the 4th qtr and the Lynx lead shrunk to 3, but after a couple of clutch free throws and possessions, the Lynx would prevail by the final buzzer.
