MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (April 29, 2022) - The men's tennis season has come to an end following a 5-3 loss to the Birmingham-Southern Panthers in the first round of the SAA Conference tournament. The Lyn will end the season with a 7-15 record.
Rhodes actually had the advantage early on, taking two of three matches in doubles action. The first point of the day came from court three as
Justin Bobo and and
Gabe Williams dispatched Tom Smith and Tyler Guerra by a score of 8-2. BSC took the next point on court one where Wilbur Dtoson and Tanner Debardelaben defeated
Daniel Trudell and
David Phillips, 8-6. It was a showdown on court two where
Ryan Crump and
Owen Kohler squeaked past Hallet Green and Elijah Henderson, 8-7, (10-8).
Unfortunately, the momentum didn't carry over to the singles courts. The Panthers took down points on courts one, five and six to take a 4-2 lead. The Lynx scored a big win on court four when
David Phillips beat Debarddelaben 6-3, 6-1 to pull the Lynx within one at 4-3. With the last two points available, Elijah Ingleson outlasted
Gabe Williams 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 to clinch the match for the Panthers. Dotson and Bobo did not finish their match on court two.
