MEMPHIS, Tenn. (March 3, 2022) - Men's tennis got over the hump on Thursday afternoon, collecting their first dual match win of the season over SAA foe Hendrix, 7-2. The win moves Rhodes to 1-5 overall, while Hendrix falls to 3-4.
Rhodes scored three points in doubles, including a phenomenal effort from
Ryan Crump and Gabriel Williams from the second position. Down 6-7 and trailing 0-40 in the game, the Lynx duo fought off triple match point to stay alive. They ended up winning eleven straight points against Connor Brooks and Brayden Bolch to take the overall point, 8-7 (3). Rhodes also received points from
Daniel Trudell and
David Phillips, who won 8-5 in first position as well as
Justin Bobo and
Owen Kohler who won 8-4 from the three-hole.
Four of six singles matches went to the Lynx, giving them the 7-2 win.

Daniel Trudell was up 2-0 against Agustin Kalinowski when the Hendrix #1 had to retire
- Bobo scored a 6-1, 6-3 win over Elijah Pierce
- Williams outscored Eric Meyne 6-4, 6-0 from position three
- Phillips made light work of Morgan Oglesbee in the fourth spot, sweeping the match at 6-0, 6-0
- The Warriors earned their first point from fifth singles, where Micah Moore defeated
Owen Kohler 6-3, 6-1
- Brayden Bolch defetaed Joseph Haynes 6-1, 6-3 in the sixth position
Next up for Rhodes is a doubleheader on Saturday in St. Louis. They will face the WashU Bears at 10:00 am, and then take on the Webster Gorloks at 2:00 pm.
