PENSACOLA, Fla. (March 17, 2022) - Rhodes fell to Wisconsin Whitewater for the second time in less than 24 hours on Thursday morning, losing 5-0. Rhodes now stands at 9-10-1 on the season while UWW improves to 4-2.
Starters Kade Lancour and
Nick Ferazzi started the game by shutting down both offenses for the first few innings. A defensive highlight came in the bottom of the second when Rhodes catcher
Mitchell O'Berry nailed two different Warhawks trying to steal second base.
Whitewater got the scoreboard going in the third inning, scoring on a wild pitch and twice on an RBI single from Jacob Demeyer. Rhodes threatened in the fifth with runners on the corners with one out, but Lancour buckled down and induced a pair of flyouts to quell the threat.
The Warhawks added one more in each of the fifth and seventh innings. Rhodes never posed a threat after the fifth, and eventually lost 5-0.
O'Berry had two hits to lead the Lynx offense.
John Gibbs and
Brett Bokelman each had scoreless relief appearances.
Rhodes wll finally have a day of on Friday, before returning to the diamond on Saturday against Carroll. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
