ATLANTA, Ga. (March 1, 2022) - The Southern Athletic Association announced the 2021-22 women's basketball postseason award winners and All-SAA teams Tuesday, as voted by the league's women's basketball head coaches. Rhodes guard Alli Mayeux won SAA Player of the Year honors, joining SAA Coach of the Year Rodney Rogan as representatives from the SAA champion Lynx on the league's postseason awards. Sophomores Catherine Althoff and A'Niya Lagarde were named first-team all conference.

Mayeux is all over the conference leaderboard, leading the SAA in a wide variety of rebounding categories, including rebounds per game (9.5), total rebounds (238) and defensive rebounds per game (8.1). She also holds the league lead with 14 double-doubles. She's second in the league in 3-point shooting, converting at a 31.6% clip, and is fourth in scoring (14.7 points per game) and minutes (34.73 per game). During the season, she surpassed career marks of 1,000 points and 600 rebounds.

Rogan led the Lynx to their second consecutive SAA championship and to their first NCAA tournament appearance under his watch (with no 2021 tournament due to the coronavirus pandemic). He has also led his Lynx to three consecutive SAA championship games. This season Rhodes sits at an impressive 23-2 entering the tournament. They completed a clean sweep of SAA play, finishing with a 12-0 record in official conference play and winning all three SAA tournament contests. They carry a 16-game winning streak into this weekend's NCAA tournament. The Lynx were selected as one of 16 teams in the country to host an opening-round pod.

Althoff was a force down low all year long for the Lynx. She was incredibly efficient, finishing with averages of 14.6 points (5th) and 7.9 rebounds (5th) per game while only playing 23.5 minutes per contest. On February 13 against Birmingham Southern, she posted 34 points and 18 rebounds, both single-game highs for anyone in the conference on the season. She was named SAA Player of the Week on two separate occasions.

Lagarde went from a reserve to one of the top two-way players in the conference over the course of the season. She averaged 12.1 points (9th) and 8.8 (2nd) rebounds per game, while also adding two assists per game. The sophomore carded 12 double-doubles on the season, including three straight in the SAA conference tournament where she was named the Most Outstanding Player.

Rhodes will host East Texas Baptist in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday, March 4th. If they win, they will play the winner of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Webster on Saturday , March 5.
